Aidan Longstreth, ma

About
Aidan Longstreth, MA is a doctoral student in clinical psychology at The Wright Institute, where they are completing their PsyD training. Aidan believes there is a profound intelligence within each individual that is drawn toward wholeness. Their work is guided by the belief that therapy can help create enough safety and trust for that intuitive knowing to take shape.
Aidan’s therapeutic style is warm, attentive, and collaborative. They listen carefully and explore the underlying patterns of how each person relates to the world, to themselves, and to others as a way to better understand the places they may be getting stuck. Rather than offering quick advice or telling clients what to do, Aidan works to create a steady, supportive environment where clients can gradually come into fuller contact with themselves and discover what feels true, possible, and meaningful.
Clinical Approach and Interests
With a grounding in depth-oriented psychotherapy, Aidan draws from psychodynamic therapy, attachment theory, and object relations to explore the deeper themes, relationships, and experiences that influence how a person understands themselves and relates to others. They pay attention to the ways early relational experiences, recurring emotional patterns, and present-day struggles may be connected. Aidan’s background in meditation and yoga has also shaped their understanding of how emotional experience is held not only in the mind, but also in the body. When appropriate, they may incorporate contemplative or somatic practices to help clients slow down, notice what is happening internally, and develop a more compassionate relationship with their thoughts and emotions.
Aidan has experience working with people navigating substance use, complex trauma, identity-related concerns, grief, medical trauma, chronic illness, and terminal illness. They have a particular interest in supporting LGBTQIA2S+ clients and strive to offer a therapy space that is affirming, respectful, and attentive to the ways identity, belonging, family, culture, and systems of power can affect mental health. Aidan works well with clients who are curious about their inner lives and open to a therapy process that makes room for uncertainty, ambivalence, and gradual change. They are also drawn to working with people who may feel stuck, disconnected from themselves or others, or uncertain about how to move forward.
Fun Facts
Outside of the therapy room, Aidan has a variety of unique interests:
- They studied theater and storytelling for many years.
- They love creating and playing games with friends and family.
- They have attended multiple extended silent meditation retreats and enjoy learning about Buddhist psychology and philosophy.
- They are interested in the growing research on psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy and how these substances may provide adjunctive healing alongside traditional therapy.
