About

Eitan Shimonovitz, MA is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) who earned his Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University. Eitan views therapy as a space for honest conversation. He strives to create a therapeutic relationship grounded in consistency, presence, attunement, and genuine curiosity, where clients feel safe exploring both the struggles they face today and the experiences that have shaped them. He believes
meaningful change begins with feeling deeply understood and grows through exploring ourselves with openness and compassion.

Clinical Approach and Interests/Specialties

Eitan’s approach to therapy is relational, drawing from psychodynamic, existential, and person- centered perspectives. He believes that many of our current ways of thinking, feeling, and relating develop through our relationships and life experiences. By slowing down together and exploring these patterns and how they are currently impacting our lives, therapy can help clients gain a deeper understanding of themselves while opening new possibilities for growth and
acceptance.

While insight is an important part of therapy, Eitan also believes it is a place to explore questions of identity, purpose, relationships, and what it means to live authentically. He works collaboratively with clients, trusting that each person is the expert on their own experience while offering curiosity, reflection, and thoughtful challenge in the service of helping clients live with greater freedom, authenticity, and self-understanding.

Fun Fact

Outside of the therapy room, Eitan enjoys coaching and playing basketball, riding his bike, and being outdoors. Coaching has taught him the value of patience, encouragement, and meeting people where they are—lessons that continue to shape the way he approaches therapy.

Past Experience and Education

Eitan earned his Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University. Before entering the mental health field, he worked in labor and employment consulting, where he developed a thoughtful and analytical approach to understanding complex human and organizational problems. His transition into psychotherapy was driven by a desire to engage more directly with people’s lived experiences and to support them through meaningful change.

Throughout his clinical training, Eitan has worked with adults and children navigating a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, identity development, and life transitions. He continues to deepen his clinical work through ongoing supervision and training.
