Vantage Point Center for Psychotherapy offers a robust, developmentally focused training program for psychologists-in-training at the practicum, internship, and postdoctoral levels. Our program emphasizes ethical practice, clinical excellence, multicultural competence, and professional identity development.

Program Overview
We utilize a scientist practitioner model of training that is experiential, sequential, and individualized. Our goal is to support trainees growth into competent, independent psychologists while providing meaningful clinical experiences with diverse populations.

Internship Training Experience
Who We Are Looking For:
Qualified internship applicants demonstrate:
– Breadth of clinical experience with diverse populations
– Coursework and/or experience in psychotherapy theories, group therapy, multicultural counseling, and supervision
– A developing theoretical orientation
– Openness to growth and lifelong learning
– Strong interpersonal and professional skills
Eligibility Requirements:
– Enrollment in an accredited doctoral program (Clinical or Counseling Psychology)
– Dissertation proposal completed at time of application
Strongly recommended: 500+ direct service hours
Information
Format: Hybrid (2-3 days in office, 2-3 days remote)
Start Date: Early August
Caseload: ~20-25 clients
Client Ages: 12-80
Interns engage in:
Individual and group therapy
Individual and group supervision
Didactic seminars
Supervision of practicum students
Treatment at Vantage Point is often longer-term, based on client needs and clinical judgment.
Areas of Specialized Training
Interns may choose to develop additional depth in one or more of the following areas:
Eating Disorders
OCD & Anxiety Spectrum Disorders
LGBTQIA+ Affirming Care

Didactics and seminars:
Weekly seminars focus on:
– Evidence-based practice across theoretical orientations
– Ethics and professional development
– Multicultural competence and inclusivity
– Specialty areas including trauma, eating disorders, anxiety, and LGBTQIA+ care

Supervision model:
Supervision Model :
Individual Supervision
– 2 hours/week with CA-licensed psychologists
– Focus on clinical work, professional identity, ethics, and growth areas
Group Supervision
– 2 hours/week throughout the training year
– Case consultation, peer support, and professional development
– Formal case presentations twice per year
Supervision of Supervision
– Interns serve as secondary supervisors to practicum trainees
– Supported by licensed supervisors and a dedicated consultation group

$37,131 (12 months, full-time)

Apa Accreditation
Accreditation Status
As of May 2026, Vantage Point Center for Psychotherapy has been granted full accreditation by the American Psychological Association for a period of 10 years through its Commission on Accreditation (CoA). This accreditation reflects the program’s commitment to high standards in clinical training, supervision, ethical practice, and professional development for psychology trainees. Accreditation by the APA signifies that the training program has undergone a rigorous evaluation process and meets nationally recognized standards for education and training in professional psychology.
Vantage Point Center for Psychotherapy’s training program is committed to providing a comprehensive and supportive learning environment that emphasizes evidence-based practice, multicultural responsiveness, ethical and professional competence, and the development of strong clinical skills. Through supervision, didactic training, and hands-on clinical experience, trainees are supported in becoming thoughtful, competent, and reflective clinicians.
